I’m sorry but I don’t have one around to measure. Have you tried contacting the nice people at Selway Fabrication to get an answer?
ZachKeymasterHave you tried calling Umpqua’s Last Resort https://www.golastresort.com/north-umpqua-trail-2-3-day-shuttle-and-lodging-package ?
ZachKeymasterThanks for sharing this as a reminder of the potential dangers of oar leashes.
When I use oar leashes I use whatever rope/webbing I have available. Most of my frames have 1/2″ tubular webbing but I’ve used a wide variety of short ropes. I’m not sure what specific plastic buckle will hold most of the time and break when wrapped around a leg.
I personally find oar leashes uncivilized. This is one of the reasons I prefer pins and clips as they don’t require me to tie my oar to the frame.
ZachKeymasterHere’s drone video I took of that rapid yesterday. This is really low water.
ZachKeymasterYep that’s the one I thought you were referring to earlier. I start on the left and make technical move to get right but not far right.
ZachKeymasterYou must be referring to Corkscrew then. In a raft I start on the right and finish on the left. The rock on the right and the rock pile in the middle can be problematic so finishing left is the easiest line.
Corkscrew is the rapid with a cabin on the left just after the rapid.
ZachKeymasterJD – it’s really hard to answer this without photos and/or diagrams. Here is what I would focus on:
1. Get your seat as low as possible
2. Don’t use oar towers longer than the NRS 8″ oar towers
3. Choose your oar length by multiplying the distance between your oar locks by 1.63ZachKeymasterJustin’s solution is great. Another thing you could do is rig a “belly line” – webbing or rope under the boat from bow to stern you can use to climb up on it.
I would not suggest loosening your perimeter line and putting your feet in it as that is a solid entrapment hazard.
ZachKeymasterI’m using the Wefelt Frame you can learn more about here https://hyside.com/product/welfelt-frame/
Unfortunately I won’t be near it for a few months to get measurements but maybe you can contact Wefelt directly for more info.
ZachKeymasterThis is a great video showing the new landslides
ZachKeymasterI think I know which rapid you’re referring to but not 100%. If we are – At these flows I like to start on the left and make my way to the right half way down.
ZachKeymasterThere are no reports of blowouts below Velvet but there could be some.
As I understand it there is a river closure but unfortunately I don’t have the details.
ZachKeymasterHere are some new videos of the landslides and logjams
